Cocktails – Grapefruit Thyme Fizz

Grapefruit Thyme Fizz

For our recent Oscar Party we had a few classics for food, but dressed them up a little…

For example, a goat cheese, blackberry & basil grilled cheese and rosemary popcorn!
We wanted to do the same for the drinks…

So we took a classic Greyhound and dressed it up!  And the Grapefruit Thyme Fizz was born, and boy aren’t we glad!

These drinks are not only refreshing but also incredibly delicious, and with this unseasonably hot weather we are getting in California they are pretty perfect for the Oscars!

meganwelker-oscar-54 Ingredients

1/2 cup  Sugar

1/2 cup  Water

6 Thyme Sprigs

1/4 cup  fresh Lemon Juice (from about 2 lemons)

1 cup  Grapefruit Juice (strained; from about 3 grapefruits)

8 ounces  Vodka

2 1/2 cups  Seltzer

Thyme sprigs, Raspberries & fresh Grapefruit slices for garnish

meganwelker-oscar-51 First you make a thyme simple syrup

In a small saucepan over low heat, combine the sugar and water. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring gently, until the sugar is dissolved. Add 6 thyme sprigs.
Remove the mixture form the heat and set aside for at least 2 hours. Strain the liquid just before using to remove thyme; reserve the syrup and discard the thyme.

meganwelker-oscar-19 Combine the lemon juice and grapefruit juice in a pitcher and add simple syrup to taste (about 1 tablespoon per serving) stir to combine.

meganwelker-oscar-53 To each glass, add ice, 2 ounces of vodka, and a quarter of the grapefruit mixture. Top with seltzer. Garnish with a few fresh grapefruit slices, raspberries and one of the remaining thyme sprigs.

There you go!  A tasty drink for you and your gals to enjoy!!

Happy Oscar Viewing!!

Beijos Does the Oscars!

We love the Oscars!  We love getting all of our girls together to watch the red carpet, see who wins and loses, and of course drink some cocktails and eat some yummy treats whilst gossiping!  It’s the perfect girls night in!

This party is also featured on Inspired By This Blog today!!

meganwelker-oscar-68 This year we stepped it up a notch and styled our party to more than just ordering a pizza and paper plates, we wanted something just as glam as the Oscars themselves!

We were inspired by the Pantone color of the year, Marsala, which we paired with metallics like gold and copper!  Honey Hue Paper Co created the perfect invite to send out to our favorite gal pals, cute water color signage for all the delicious food & drink, and our very own ballot you can download here!

Flowers by Mae Mae added the perfect florals to adorn Jacquelyn’s piano and dress up the party a bit, we loved the color of the flowers and the wild feel of them.
And us girls lounged around our floor to watch the show on our favorite pillows by Boho Pillow, that girl has THE best collection we just swoon over…
For drinks we did a super tasty grapefruit and thyme vodka cocktail which were in the cutest pink glassware we just picked up from CB2 – we’ll be sharing that recipe tomorrow!

For food we did a blackberry, basil & goat cheese grilled cheese and rosemary buttered popcorn, both a usual basic food dressed up into something tastier and fancier!
Everything here was captured perfectly by our dear friend Megan Welker :)
Hope you enjoy the 2015 Oscars this weekend and got a little inspiration from us!

My Little Beijinho’s First Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day has always been one of my favorite holidays, most likely because it’s the day after my birthday!  As in today!

As a kid my mom would really out do herself on every holiday, making each one special with fun treats, crafts and traditions.  For Valentine’s Day she would make a special breakfast, make valentine’s with us and buy us fun red or pink outfits to wear.

This is my first Valentine’s Day as a Mama and I really want to do the same with my little guy Court!  I figure if there is a reason to celebrate something, especially like LOVE, then why not?!

To commemorate our first Valentine’s Day together I had one of our favorite creative friends, The Duo Studio, build a keepsake box for Court and I.  They do amazing wood work and I was so happy with how this little guy turned out!  It’s something we will have forever!

I then printed some of my favorite Instagram photos of Court this past year (and there have been A LOT) through Artifact Uprising.  It was super easy, I even did it on my phone!  I just downloaded their app, chose my photos and placed the order!  Within a week the photos were on my porch and they are amazing quality!

Court and I are in for many more firsts together, but it’s always fun to celebrate each one, even a holiday that can some times be considered quite cheesy…  I’m gonna look at it as I get to share even more love this  Valentine’s Day and all the others I’m lucky enough to celebrate with him.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Sweet Beijos Love Date

We recently got to throw a fun little craft party to celebrate our local Southern California Mama & Baby friends, the relocation of one of our favorite local kids shops, Sweet Threads, and one of our favorite holidays… Valentine’s Day!!!

It was a Sweet Beijos Love Date!!

Also featured today on 100LayerCakelet!!

We had such a fun day filled with some major cuteness overload and a whole lot of pretty thanks to so many amazing vendors!

Starting it off with the amazing invites created by one of our favorites… Twinkle & Toast, I mean, does it get any cuter than these?!  And our friends at The Confetti Bar were kind enough to add a little sparkle!

Megan of Honey & Poppies wowed us with her flowers, Boxed Water kept us nice and hydrated, and how amazing are these wood hearts by The Duo Studio!?!  Taryn added her little magic to them as well!  They made for the perfect signage through-out the party and even worked as photo booth props!

meganwelker-beijos-sweetthreads-5 IMG_0377 Every kiddo party needs a fun teepee to play and imagine in!

meganwelker-beijos-sweetthreads-1 How fun is it to make the ceiling a focal point for a party?  We used our Hruuska gold chandeliers hung through-out the shop and had Honey & Poppies add her gorgeous florals to them, then added the best heart balloons from Northstar Balloons!  You couldn’t keep your eyes from glancing up and seeing all the pretty!

meganwelker-beijos-sweetthreads-109 The little ones had plenty of crafts to keep them busy while the mamas shopped!

meganwelker-beijos-sweetthreads-67 IMG_0381 IMG_0385 Check out the tutorial on these heart wands we posted last week right here!

meganwelker-beijos-sweetthreads-96 meganwelker-beijos-sweetthreads-100 And crafting is even more fun when the Mamas get in on the action!! IMG_0430 IMG_0437 How cute is Shella the owner of Sweet Threads!?  She couldn’t even resist the fun!! IMG_0436
Sweet & Saucy Shop wowed us yet again with their delicious and beautiful desserts!!  Makes my tummy growl just looking at these photos!  So so yummmmmmm….

meganwelker-beijos-sweetthreads-59 IMG_0374 meganwelker-beijos-sweetthreads-62 Gotta have the Man Crush cookies for the Mamas!  They deserve it ;) IMG_0388 We were lucky enough to use the most beautiful peacock chair from Found Rentals which was adorned with blooms from Honey & Poppies, it made for the perfect photo booth for our Mamas & Littles. IMG_0431 So many cute little ones!!!  We are dying over all these photos! IMG_0462 IMG_0455-1 These two!!! Gah!!! IMG_0454-1 We even had a furry friend visit!! IMG_0466 IMG_0468 Us Beijos Girls couldn’t resist to get in on the fun with our little ones either!!
