Beijos Little Girl-Friendsgiving

Leading up to Thanksgiving, you find yourself giving a lot of thought of what you are thankful for. If you were to ask any female what they are thankful, pretty confident, the top three answers would be their close girlfriends. No matter what age you are, your girlfriends are some of the most vital people in your life. So this year, we threw our little ladies a girl-Friendsgiving complete with sweets and a perfectly styled fall tablescape with the help from our friends at Wild Child Party and Meghann Miniello. It doesn’t get much more adorable than this! Such a sweet tradition to start with your little ones. Plus, it made them feel so special and who wouldn’t be thrilled with all those treats at your fingertips! They had no problem indulging in all the sweets! Can you blame them?

Hey, big girls! Did you see our Friendsgiving too? Check it out here.

Every gathering starts with an invitation. You remember when you were little, and would be so thrilled that you got something in the mail. YASSS! It was the highlight of the week! I just love the denim-inspired invite that our girlfriend, Meghann Miniello created.

1st thing on any little girl’s mind…. what am I going to wear? These little ladies came dressed to boho perfection in Little Baberham. If you haven’t, you MUST check out Little Baberham. I have become quite jealous of my daughter’s wardrobe with these beautiful pieces in it.

Wild Child Party has the cutest fall tabletop products this year. We are smitten over the rose gold platescups, and straws. Paired with the mini wooden cake stands that were a perfect holder for some yummy treats. They have the coolest kid tabletop essentials for any party you could imagine. With Christmas around the corner, you will be sure to find their holiday tableware on our tables. Check it out here, and get some fast! We were thankful for a lot this year!

Each little lady let us know what they are thankful for this year. We couldn’t wait to hear what they would say! Priceless and so sweet! Meghann Miniello created square wooden charges including what each little one is thankful for.

Meghann went one step further and created some fun fall acrylic leaves that were sprinkled along the tablescape, and also acted as name cards for our little ladies. Let’s not forget the gobble stir sticks for the little ones to feel like big girls!

A perfectly styled tabletop is not complete without our two favorite things: flowers and sweets. A girl’s best friend right?! Our friends over at Petite Petal created a perfect fall colored floral arrangement that made itself perfectly at home in between all those yummy treats.

Let’s all be thankful for our close pals and give them an extra squeeze when you see them next!

Fall Recipe – Creamy Tomato Tortellini Soup

Hey, hey, hey…It’s Friday, yay!!! You know what that means right? It’s soup and wine parings for the month of November in collaboration with One Hope wine.  Today we are taking a trip to Italy as we were inspired by this yummy fall soup.  Even before you see the pictures your mouth starts watering when you say it….Creamy Tomato Tortellini Soup.  And boy is it yummy. Now I’m a true lover of tomato soup so when you add cheese tortellini and some basil, it’s like a flavor explosion.  When I made it this week, the aroma in my house was so dreamy.  Plus my husband loved it because it’s hearty almost like a pasta dish.  Anyway, let’s get to sharing with you shall we…

img_4035

Ingredients

1 medium onion diced

3 garlic cloves, minced

1 teaspoon olive oil

1 spring of fresh rosemary chopped

28 ounce can diced tomatoes

15 ounce can tomato sauce

½ teaspoon dried oregano

4 large fresh basil leaves

½ teaspoon salt

¼ teaspoon pepper

4 cups chicken broth

½ cup heavy cream

20 ounces three-cheese tortellini

½ cup shredded parmesan cheese + extra for garnish

salt and pepper, to taste (optional)

fresh basil, to garnish

img_4032

Instructions

Place the onion, garlic, olive oil, and fresh rosemary in a 6-quart soup pot or dutch oven. Sautee over medium heat for 5 minutes or until the onions are translucent.

Add in the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, oregano, basil, salt, pepper, chicken broth, and heavy cream and stir to combine. Simmer for 20 minutes.

Place the three-cheese tortellini into the soup and cook for 10 minutes or until the tortellini are tender and cooked through.

Serve and garnish with fresh basil and shredded parmesan cheese.

img_4030

So the next best part is pairing it with wine and One Hope is suggesting either their Pinot Noir or their Sauvignon Blanc.  I tried both of course and well…it’s a toss up.  If you are having this for lunch do the blanc and if your going to make it for dinner then definitely the Pinot!  Well there you have it, happy Friday…enjoy and your welcome!

Beijos Friendsgiving

Fact of the matter is people that Thanksgiving is in a week!!  What are you all doing??  Whether you are going to someones home or hosting it we have some fun inspiration for you today. Which by the way is also featured on Inspired by This blog today too!! The collaborators on this one were amazing too!!  We always work with the best, most talented people and for that we are so Grateful!! The inspiration for this almost came out anti traditional when you see the colors, but it wasn’t on purpose. It came out just perfect for a feminine and playful friendsgiving. We are just always trying to bring in some new fresh ideas and looks for y’all!!  Hope you like…

All Photos by the lovely Megan Welker

We shot in the beautiful Woodshed Venue down in Vista.  This place is so stunning for events.

meganwelker-october-62

We loved this set of table and chairs, along with the side table dessert cart all by Witty Rentals.  The small circular table was fun and different with the wood top and brass bottom, which was perfect for the intimate setting we were trying to pull off.  And we had to add in these modern chairs with the white and wood mix.  It had the right fun and funky mix we were going for.

meganwelker-october-60

Now for these table details…first of all these flowers were kind of insane.  When we work with the bloom babes we are pretty much in awe of the beautiful creations they bring to the table every time!! The soft whites and pinks mixed with the foliage is just perfection!! And how cute are these little persimmons??

meganwelker-october-2

Next up is the the table top by our favorite store in the world Target!!  We went with the lighter charger adding some texture with the jute mixed in with some gold stitching in there making it fun and fancy.  A simple white plate is next, with a textured but muted yellow plate on top.  Accented of course with some gold flatware and a light pinky/orange napkin. Oh and we can’t forget the gold tumbler, we loved that little guy!!

meganwelker-october-4

Then we had Taryn of Twinkle and Toast pull off something really pretty. We went with a black to fully stand out on this table.  The traditional place cards and the fun little cards stating what we are thankful for off to the side of the plate.

Now onto the sweets…Sweet and Saucy, yeah we know another heavy hitter!! Never disappoints…The beautiful arrangement and candles from Target add the perfect balance to this dessert display too.

Tailgate in Style

Fall…you are such a good time of year.  We’ve just come off our Summer high and get to experience the leaves changing, the air getting cooler, the holiday’s and oh yeah how could we possibly forget…football.  Hello?? Don’t know about you, but our husbands love it and we do to, maybe not as much as they do but we enjoy a good game and some partying surrounding the game if you know what I mean.  I grew up a UCLA fan because my dad is a complete fanatic.  So every fall we geared up for some Bruin football and a super fun tailgate before the games. For the last game of the year, which was usually when they played USC, my parents would buy hundreds of tickets and invite all of their friends, get a caterer, and even music to play!!  Crazy fun right??  We had a blast! Now if you are a Bruin, your not really a fan of USC.  They are both amazing schools and great teams, but you have to pick a side…you can’t like both.  With all this said, we thought it appropriate for some fun tailgate inspiration surrounding the game this weekend!

beijos_football-5

Grab your self a couple Gunn & Swain blankets and take a trip to Trader Jo’s and your good!!

beijos_football-7

We had the talented Blot and Dot make some essential signs for us setting the tone perfectly.

Don’t forget some finger apps that go well with the spirits…

…and some yummy grab and go sweets.

You can find these pretty olive wood cutting boards at The Little Market. And the copper accents (mule mugs & napkins) at Pottery Barn.

Beijos Fall Chili

We are right back at it, checking off our to do’s on our Beijos Fall list.  This one is extra good…who doesn’t like a cozy bowl of chili to fill that tummy?? Chili brings so many good memories to mind, but for me it’s mainly football.  Whether your at someones house watching the game or tailgating with friends.  A good bowl of chili is an essential when the words football and party combine.  Especially on a nice crisp Fall day.  If you make a good chili, it’s definitely something you are proud of and since there are so many variations of recipes I thought I would share the one I call the best.  This is a beef chili with no beans, it’s super delish and not too bad for you since it’s a lot of protein!

beijos_football-39

Ingredients

1 1/2 pounds beef round, cut into 1-inch chunks
Kosher salt and pepper
6 teaspoons vegetable oil
1 medium onion, chopped
1 red bell pepper, seeded and chopped
2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1 to 2 teaspoons chipotle chili powder
2 teaspoons dried oregano
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon ground coriander
2 tablespoons fine corn meal
2 tablespoons tomato paste
cheddar cheese, for garnish
tortilla chips or bread of choice, for garnish

(you can also add some sour cream and chives if that’s your thang)

beijos_football-49

Directions

Season the beef with salt and pepper. Heat a Dutch oven over medium heat with 2 teaspoons vegetable oil; sear the beef in two batches, adding up to 2 teaspoons more vegetable oil, until browned on all sides, 4 to 6 minutes per batch. Using a slotted spoon or tongs, transfer the beef to a plate as it browns.
Reduce the heat to medium. Add the remaining 2 teaspoons oil to the pot; add the onion, red pepper and garlic. Cook, stirring, until onion is soft, 8 to 10 minutes. Stir in the cocoa, chili powder, oregano, cumin and coriander; cook until fragrant, about 1 minute. Add the corn meal and tomato paste and cook until the tomato paste sticks to bottom and caramelizes, about 2 minutes. Stir in 6 cups water, scraping tomato paste from bottom of pan; bring to a simmer. Add the reserved beef; partially cover the pot and adjust the heat to maintain a gentle simmer until the beef is tender, 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
Serve chili with fresh grated cheddar cheese and some bread or tortilla chips (I prefer tortilla chips).  And if you like sour cream and chives add those as well!!

beijos_football-47

It takes a while to cook, but it’s so worth the wait…Enjoy!!

Tomorrow we have some tailgating inspiration for one of our favorite cross town rival games coming up this weekend!!  Yup you guessed it UCLA vs. USC.  Fun times, and don’t forget your chili people…It’s a must!!
