Graphic Tees & How We Style Them for Spring

One of my favorite things to wear, no matter the season, is a good t-shirt. I tend to gravitate towards graphic tees because I can wear them all the time, whether it’s casual or dressing them up.  Some of the graphics out there are just so good, I am always finding ones I have to add to my personal inventory.  They are also something I don’t mind buying because I know I will wear them like crazy.  I wanted to share how I styled a few new graphic tees for Spring.

I love the idea of taking a graphic tee and making it fancy.  The inspiration for this outfit came from my favorite Prism Boutique, where I got both the top and the skirt!  This outfit can be worn from day to night, just throw on a little leather jacket when it gets chilly.  You’ll definitely be seeing me in this look this season!

Next up I did my usual t-shirt and jeans, but a little jazzed up.  This Rolling Stones tee by Daydreamer has become one of my favorites.  I added my trusty checkered Vans that I can’t live without and a new hat from Brixton.  I love throwing on a hat when I’m not feeling very cute, haha, just adds a little bit of style to any outfit!  This casual outfit would be perfect for running errands during the day or for a fun weekend family day.

There you have it, just a few ideas for you and your tees!  More style posts to come next week but you can shop this post below!

How to wear Dresses with Sneakers

One of my current favorite things to wear are my sneakers with dresses.  It kind of goes against what you would normally think fashion wise, but it actually works!  The juxtaposition of a casual pair of sneakers with a dress is fun and definitely adds a cool vibe.  For today’s post we wanted to show you how we wear dresses with sneakers.

Abby and I put together 3 different looks.  You can have fun with this, patterns on patterns are definitely Beijos approved.  I personally love this look and love that I can be comfy in my favorite sneakers.  I also love how it makes the look a bit more casual, not taking it too seriously.  You can shop our looks at the bottom of our post!

For my first look I paired my absolute favorite checkered Vans with this pretty printed dress by Spell.  The Spell dress is very light and airy so I funked it up a bit with my fringe leather jacket (similar here).  I love how the Vans and jacket make the dress take on a completely different look!  Always gotta add sunnies too, mine are by Wyeth.

Next up is Abby’s look!  Her’s is less edgy and perfect for the warm days coming up.  She is showing how to wear dresses with sneakers in a Spring/Summer way.  Abby went with this pretty dress by Faithfull the Brand.  She accessorized it up with a cool boyfriend style Levis denim jacket and the cutest clutch for Summer by Cult Gaia.  Her neutral style Puma sneakers will go with anything and works with so many dresses!  Abby is also wearing her Wyeth sunnies!

Last but not least is a bit of a dressier look…  I took this pretty dress by Auguste and jazzed it up with my Adidas Stan Smiths.  I love the cross between the sexy dress and sporty shoes.  Perfect for a date night, fun fact, I wore this same outfit on my birthday!  When you’ve got those breastfeeding tatas as an accessory, you really don’t need much else ;)

So there you have it!  This is the Beijos way on how to style dresses with sneakers.  But really, there is so much more you can do!  Mixing in some shorter dresses would be fun for Summer to!  Hope we inspired you to mis it up this Spring/Summer!

3 Practical Looks For The Mama On The Go

There once was a day where we had full-time corporate jobs, and sweats and sandals were not in rotation for the work week.  Since becoming stay at home working moms, many days we are just trying to sneak in a shower.  There are even some mornings, where brushing your teeth, just doesn’t happen. Real life, you know it. We still try to wear cute outfits, but of course, they have to be very practical for playing at the park, running errands, and for some of us Beijos ladies getting spit-up and food thrown at us. The most important thing here ladies is you can’t fall down the rabbit hole and lose your sense of style. Keep it fresh with your style, makeup, and accessories. You don’t’ want to be that mom at school pick-up still wearing your PJ bottoms with no makeup. Plus, you never know when you will run into someone at the grocery store or the mall. Most importantly, we still gotta look good for our man when he comes home from work, right?!

Here are three styles that we Beijos ladies wear on an everyday basis.

There is no secret that a good pair of black leggings is a mama’s best friend. These bad boys aren’t just for working out anymore. Versatile, comfortable, and can be worn all year long- they are a must. I have tried numerous brands, and just last week I finally found the perfect pair! FINALLY! The Align Pant II from Lululemon Athletica is the real deal. A no-dig high waistband and the lightweight barely-there second skin fabric will have you wanting to get five pairs. I have multiple pairs of Lululemon leggings, and the Align Pant blows the other pairs out of the water. Along with the leggings, I like to go simple with a white shirt on most days. I’m a sucker for the monochromatic mama uniform. The  We The Free Pacific Thermal from Free People adds a twist with its cropped look. Paired with Birkenstocks now that the sun is peaking out these days. When it’s just me and I’m out running errands, I like to use my double zipped crossbody bag. Leave the mom purse at home.   Of course, always with me is my Wyeth Sunnies. Never leave the house without them.

If I’m being 100% honest, there are lots of days where I don’t have time to shower!  Haha!  This is my reality right now with a 2-year-old and a 6-month-old.  But most days I do try my best to look somewhat put together, mainly for my own sanity, ha!  Somedays I miss the days of getting ready without the kiddos and getting all dolled up, but wouldn’t change anything if I could.  For me, comfort is key, so you better believe I’m all about those leggings.  Very typical mom style, I know.  My go-to favorite pair of leggings are by David Lerner.  I’ve been a big fan of David Lerner for quite sometime and love how thick the fabric is, they are such amazing quality.  I wore their maternity leggings throughout both of my pregnancies.  Now for what goes on top, this ranges all the time.  I do lots of t-shirts, sweatshirts, sweaters, you name it.  But most of the time it’s something simple and easy to breastfeed in, bc let’s be real, that’s my life!  I found this cute short sleeve sweatshirt by Sincerely Jules at Nordstrom and had to pick it up.  Love the color and that it would really go with everything.  Next up, my favorite checkered Vans, my husband makes fun of me for how I live in these suckers!  Another must have for me with my mom style is a backpack!  I never realized the convenience of a backpack till I had Court and now I can’t get enough.  It’s so amazing to have two arms/hands-free while chasing after a toddler and tending to a baby.  The Hendrix bag from Cleobella is my favorite, it has a boho vibe and fits everything I need in it.  Most of the time it’s my diaper bag too!  Us moms even make our purses multi-task!!  The last thing are my Wyeth sunnies, and then I am good to go!

Sunday’s in our house are all about slow mornings followed by some park time and then a trip to the grocery store to stock up the week’s school lunches. My Sunday morning routine usually includes these Amuse Society Asher Pant and a cami or my favorite v-neck tee from Free People. These aren’t any ordinary pair of sweats, the Asher Pant comes in a cool tobacco color and are beyond soft, plus the fringe detail just seals the deal. Another pair of sweats that are on the Sunday morning rotation is these Free People Everyone Loves This Jogger. I sometimes sleep in these if it’s a cold night, super soft and cozy. When it’s time to hit the park, I throw on my favorite vans and denim jacket. Grab those sunnies and my Cleobella clutch and off to start Sunday Funday !

Spotlight – Maison du Soir

Feeling amazing while sleeping is something I had never given much thought to, until now.  Maison du Soir is a luxury sleepwear and loungewear line that I have fallen head over heels for.  When you’re used to wearing an old t-shirt to bed anything will feel luxurious, but this is next level.  Each piece is of the best quality and fabrics with the best fit.  The pieces are all unique and classic at once with style in mind, pretty incredible for a sleepwear collection.

As a mom I don’t spoil myself very often.  I tend to spend most of my extra money on things for my kids or experiences for them.  But every once and a while it’s nice to spoil myself and treat myself to something nice.  Sleep itself is a luxury for me these days, so I totally understand why a luxury sleepwear brand would feel so special.  As they say on their site “wearing beautiful will make you feel beautiful” and that couldn’t be more true.

Tell us a little bit about you and how Maison du Soir came to life…

I was a working as a VP in the corporate world in merchandising and design.  I bought my first set of quality sleepwear and it was transforming. I looked better, I felt better and I slept better.  I scoured the internet and my favorite boutiques.  I was completely disappointed in the sleepwear market.  I found it to be a bit dated, frumpy and lacking relevance to current trends.  I had experience developing new brands so I dreamed up my ideal collection of sleepwear that would fill this void.  I became so obsessed with my mission, Maison Du Soir started and now I’m 5 years in.

What drew you to luxury sleepwear?

Luxury sleepwear is an experience.  Once you invest in your sleepwear the way you invest in your day wear, you will realize how much you deserve it and wonder why it took you so long to buy it. It makes you feel  more confident and comforted after a long day.  With everything we juggle as women, careers, families, who wouldn’t want to feel this way at home.

What sets Maison du Soir apart from other other sleep and loungewear lines?

Buttery soft fabrics, flattering silhouettes, high quality, attention to detail, relevance to our changing tastes and made locally in Los Angeles.

How does your design process begin?

For me, it begins with an innate sense of what newness I’m looking for and what I believe other women would want.  After that I do a little cross check with trend and color research. Then I develop protos in multiple fabrications to ensure my ideas fit well and the fabric and colors are flattering.

What inspired the Spring/Summer 2017 collection?

The Spring collection is inspired by the renewal and freshness that Spring brings.  It’s a departure from the edginess and darker tones we’re known for in Winter.  Easy elegance and sophistication was more prevalent this season.

Jacquelyn is wearing the Bardot Blouse & Ava Pant in Emerald and Abby is wearing the Amalfi Top & Jane Short in White

What are some of your favorite pieces for Spring & Summer?

The Isabella robe and the Monaco Set for every day.  For special occasions, the Bardot and Jaclyn in Periwinkle.

Besides Maison du Soir, what are some of your essentials for a good night’s sleep?

A good set of sheets and bedding is incredibly important to me.  My current routine obsession is my Uma brightening Face Oil, followed by secret weapon Korean sheet eye masks, finished with Henne Organics Lip Balm.  If the day was extra grueling, I wouldn’t dare skip a baking soda bath with rose oil. Electronics absolutely get shut down.

What’s next for Maison du Soir?

We’re currently in expansion mode trying to get product out to so many new channels.  In May we’ll be debuting some special collaborations with GOOP and Shopbop.

Thank you for sharing Courtney!

Be sure to head over to Maison du Soir to check out their beautiful collection and spoil yourself a bit!  A good night’s sleep is even better while wearing this beautiful line, you can thank me later…

Valentine’s Day Date Outfits

Valentine’s Day is less than a week away – the day of love!  If you’re like us then you are planning this special day with your special someone.  Are you going out?  Staying in?  Or maybe you have a fun day date planned, either way we have some outfit inspiration for you!  With the help of our friends at Chaser we put together 3 different Valentine’s Day date outfits we are sharing today!

Photos of Abby & Jacquelyn by Meg Perotti – Photos of Leah by Megan Welker

Starting it off with a night at home at the Guido house…  Abby loves to cook for her hubby and surprise him with a fun new cocktail to come home to.  She went for a relaxed night at home in some Chaser loungewear.  From what she told me, the joggers are the softest things ever and she is living in them!  I will definitely have to pick up a pair for myself!

The rest of Abby’s outfit is kept simple with a white tank and a really cute bra (also by Chaser!) peaking out underneath.  A little bit of cozy and a little bit of sexy… Meow!  I think Mike will love cuddling with her on the couch!!

My plan with my hubs is to do a day date this Valentine’s Day.  We aren’t ones to go for the hustle and bustle of a holiday night out so we’re keeping it simple.  I loved this off the shoulder top by Chaser, it’s something I can wear now with denim and through Spring and Summer with some shorts.  Since we’re going casual for Valentine’s Day I wore my trusty checkered Vans, always a good accessory!

I’m also sporting my favorite Brixton hat and Wyeth Sunglasses.  Two staples I can’t live without and add some flair to any outfit.  If I’m being honest my husband doesn’t love me in hats, which is super annoying because I love them!  Haha!  Good thing he’s married to me so I can do whatever I want… Hehe… I also got this little shawl from Chaser that I’ve been wearing a ton, super easy to throw on when it’s a little chilly!

Last but not least is fancy pants Leah, who is going all out and doing it right with a Valentine night out!  Doesn’t that sound amazing?  A night out with your husband, just the two of you without any distractions, aka kids?  With three little ones I think Damon and Leah deserve this night out the most of all!  Leah chose a pretty silk dress from Chaser, yes they have silk dresses in their collection pieces, and she is a total babe!

Leah paired this pretty grey silk dress with some burgundy tights, booties and a super cute leather jacket. All the makings for a real cute date night out with the hubs.  I’m sure Damon will be totally fine for paying for the babysitter to go out with this foxy lady!

You can shop all of these looks below!!  Don’t forget to look your best for whatever your Valentine’s Day plans are!
