One of the most anticipated holidays of the year is upon us…  Just two more days till New Years Eve!!!  This is THE holiday for getting the party started, and I did just that!  Usually when you think of New Years Eve you think of the typical black, gold, silver, white color scheme.  Well, I wanted to try something different this year, and since the tropical trend has been such a continuous favorite, that is right where my mind went.  So this year we decided on a tropical New Years Eve with Lulu & Georgia, and it turned out pretty amazing!

If you missed our New Year Brunch with Lulu & Georgia earlier this week be sure to check it out!  This tropical affair is all about fun colors and the essentials for the perfect celebration.  Keep scrolling to see the gorgeous photos from Heather Kincaid and be sure to head over to Style Me Pretty Living for even more fun!

I always have to start with a gorgeous invite, and who else but my girl Taryn from Twinkle & Toast.  Palm leaves and pink, sort of the perfect combination, am I right?!  She created all of the paper goods for this shoot.  And you’ll see that amazing custom confetti from The Confetti Bar and cutest cocktail stirrers from The Roc Shop through-out this shoot!

Everything used for this shoot from the furniture to the tabletop is from Lulu & Georgia!  So you can literally recreate this yourself!  These tropical palm leaf plates were the perfect addition to the table and really make it pop!  And I fell in love with the super tropical floral arrangement from the Bloom Babes!

It’s New Years Eve so you’ve gotta throw some confetti around!!

One of the most important spots on New Years Eve has gotta be the bar cart!!  The Zelia Bar Cart from Lulu & Georgia is so classic and modern, it will fit perfectly in any home!  Just add some pretty glassware and our favorite sparkly One Hope Champagne bottles!

New Years Brunch with Lulu & Georgia

Now that Christmas is officially over there’s only one way to deal with our heartache…. Start making New Years plans!!!!  That’s right, 2017 is coming up and we’ve got you covered this week with tons of inspiration!!  Starting with this amazing New Years Brunch with Lulu & Georgia.  I was lucky enough to style and design the first birthday party of Vivian Mae, the daughter of Lulu & Georgia CEO Sara Brenner earlier this year.  I loved working with Sara so much I had to reach out to see if she would be up for some fun styled shoots.  Lucky for me, she was!

The idea of a New Years Brunch with my girlfriends just makes me smile!  After a night out of debauchery, spending the day lounging with your gal pals drinking mimosas sounds like heaven!  I had the best team of vendors on this one and I’m thrilled to have it featured on Glitter Guide today!  Keep scrolling to see all of the pretty details and get inspired to host a fab New Years brunch of your own!!  You’re gonna flip over all of the amazing Lulu & Georgia goodies!!

Photos by the talented Heather Kincaid

What pieces and details brought this party to life?

I have been a huge fan of the Elodie collection from Lulu & Georgia and Glitter Guide since the minute I saw it.  I love the mix of colors and print and thought it would be the perfect inspiration for this gathering at home!  I mean, who wouldn’t love to have that rug in their home?!  All of the vendors involved had so much fun creating pieces inspired by the Elodie, I especially love the invite Twinkle & Toast created that used the print and colors perfectly!

We love the concept of a New Year’s Day brunch! What inspired this type of holiday celebration?

I love it too!  NYE is always an amazing celebration but I like to keep the party going and love the idea of having a girls slumber party with fun festivities to continue the next morning!  Plus, we all could use a little hair of the dog the day after such a fun filled cocktail infused night out :)  And lastly, you want to start the new year off right with close friends and fun times, so this is just how you do that!

How gorgeous are the flowers by Bloom Babes?!  They go with the whole color scheme so well and they are exactly what you want to see to kick off a new year!

Tell us about the menu!

I love brunch foods, to me that’s the best meal of the day!  So for the menu I had to have something delicious but pretty as well!  There is an array of sweet and salty, which is also important to appease everyone’s taste buds.  Plus, some good hang over options for the ladies who had a little too much fun the night before

Custom menus, resolution cards, and really rad copper place cards by Twinkle & Toast.  Also, loving the custom cocktail stirrers from The Roc Shop!

What are three things every holiday party has to have?

Good food, yummy cocktails and festive friends!

How did you settle on that pretty pink color palette for the party?

I wanted something different for this NY celebration.  New Years tends to be all about black, gold and white but I wanted something different!  I love the idea of having a girls get together with these pretty hues and that soft pink really stole my heart!  The pretty pink Lulu & Georgia settee played off the colors of the Elodie rug so well and I just love the way it all turned out!

Now let’s get our models in here, who really know how to party!!  Especially when some One Hope champs is involved!  Bottoms up!

Best brunch playlist: go!

I’m really feeling the new Bruno Mars album and gotta have some Bieber!!

All of our models are keeping cozy in Show Me Your Mumu and looking pretty thanks to Fiore Beauty, and genetics of course ;)

Do you have any stress-free party-planning tips to share?

Do as much as you can the day before… Pre prep food, set up your home for everything you can, all of that tedious stuff.  The less you have to do the day of the more you can enjoy yourself and have fun!  Which is what planning and throwing an event is all about.

What are your New Year resolution for 2017?

Something I want to focus on is more time on myself, whether it’s working out, resting, reading more books.  Just finding time for me and taking care of myself!

Hope you enjoyed this New Years Brunch with Lulu & Georgia as much as we did!!  Now go out and plan that brunch and make it a dreamy affair like this one!

Styling your Home with Flowers for the Holidays

Christmas is this weekend and I want to make sure my homes (and yours!) is ready for all of the festivities!!  This year I’m styling my home with flowers for the holidays and teaching you how as well!  We often use flowers in events, it really is the easiest and prettiest way to beautify a space or setting.  What better way to make your home look amazing for the holidays than that?!  And I’m not just talking about your basic poinsettias people, I Beijo-fied these arrangements with the help of Honey Comb Affair.  I also threw in some fun LH Calligraphy goodies that are must haves any time of year!  Keep reading to see all of the pretty!

Photos by Megan Welker

The first place I floralized is the fireplace!  Now this is the focal point of the home, especially over the holidays.  I used this print from LH Calligraphy and framed it to add some merry cheer.  When thinking about the flowers I knew I didn’t want your basic Christmas florals.  I definitely wanted to think outside the box with a more bohemian feel, I sent Christy from Honey Comb Affair inspiration photos and she nailed it!!  Isn’t it refreshing to see something pretty and alive in your home like these gorgeous blooms?  Especially somewhere unexpected like the fireplace!

Here’s a little bit from Christy of Honey Comb Affair

“It was a fresh new twist on the Christmas color and texture, especially when it came to the greenery.
Instead of the standard winter greens, I used different varieties of eucalyptus, pods and birch twigs. The Flowers included red charm peonies, burgundy scabiosa, Amaranthus, and the protea flower for the ultimate boho feel. “

Next stop on our floral tour… The bar cart!!  Now, that’s my focal point, haha!  After being pregnant throughout the holidays last year you best believe I’m having some cocktails this year!  Having a little bit of a pop on your bar cart is important, it adds some color and looks pretty at the same time.  We love using loose blooms as well as arrangements when we style events, so take a couple and place them places in your home.  For the bar cart I placed some on a tray with glassware!  Add in some of our favorite One Hope Wine sparkly bottles and some LH Calligraphy accessories and you are good to go!

Loving the coasters and stir sticks for the holidays!!!

Last up, the coffee table!  Everyone gathers around this spot, so you better have it dressed up for the holiday season!  This is the no brainer of floralizing, the coffee table always needs some love…  Plus, they are pretty for you to have at home while you’re addressing all of those Christmas cards.  If you’re like me you are just getting them out this week, yikes!!  So when you’re feeling like you’re behind in the game it’s nice to have something pretty to look at!

Love these gorgeous cards!!

So there you have it, styling your home for the holidays has never been so easy!  Now go out there and have your home be the talk of the town this season!

Holiday Tablescape with Pottery Barn

This week is all about hosting and styling our houses for Christmas. We 1st showed you how to throw the perfect cheese and wine happy hour with Williams-Sonoma, earlier this week. Tomorrow, we will show you how to style your house up with flowers. But today is a goodie! We have partnered up with Pottery Barn to create a festive tablescape for your holiday dinner. It’s the most wonderful time of the year to be hosting family and friends. We are showing you how easy it is to do! Let’s get started!

Every dinner party starts with an invitation. Tia Joy Kim created a vellum and olive green velvet invitation. It doesn’t get more festive and elegant than this. Your family and friends will know they are in for a treat just by receiving this.

Now, every table needs a beautiful and bountiful flower arrangement. Jen from Busy Bees Florals did just that with her version of a natural and delicate arrangement. We went for a look that didn’t scream Christmas, and we are in love with the results. The light pastel garden roses mixed with white cabbage leaves and greenery make a statement but in a delicate way. With the tablescape being made up of gold, olive greens, reds, and greens it makes the flowers pop and stands out from the rest. But they also don’t outshine the tablescape as well. If you are thinking to yourself, there is no way I can make that… then just simply use some greenery that you can find at your local flower mart to give height to your table. Also, add greenery around the arrangement on each side of the table.

Gathered Faux Fur Throw- Ivory Tipped

The place was setting, the most important element of the table. This is where your guest will ooh and aww. I fell in love with the Velvet Placemat in Sage Green. It brings out that festive look you need for the holidays, and a wonderful texture that I just love. Next, the festive Gigi Gold Rim Plate. This dinnerware set gives you a natural, organic feel with a touch of glamor with the gold rim. To match the gold detail, the Luna Brushed Gold Flatware set was placed on each side of the plate.

No holiday place setting isn’t complete without some jingle bells. We took the Antique Bell Ornament and set them at each place setting for our guest as a favor. Tia Joy Kim also did a name card that was beautifully calligraphed in olive green. As well as a special note to the guests letting them know how grateful we are to have them in our lives.

Adding rosemary, flowers, figs, and cranberries to the plates give a festive pop and color to the table.

Among the greenery on the table for added detail, we placed silver mercury glass ornaments. Adding embellishments like an ornament to a holiday table brings back happy memories of my childhood as my grandmother use to do this. By doing this, I know that my family will cherish that detail.

No holiday table is finished without glassware. To match the dinner plates, the Gold Rim stemless wine glasses were a must. We decided to shake things up and add a martini glass instead of a water goblet. I love the classic look of the Schott Zwiesel martini glass, and it adds height your place setting. I like the unexpected look of having the martini glass be the water goblet.

One Hope Wine for the win. Place multiple bottles around your table for guests to grab.

Linen menu by Tia Joy Kim

I think a menu is a must when hosting family and friends. Once you see that menu, you can’t help but be so excited for what is to come. With this menu, I hope everyone wore their stretchy fat pants. You are in for a treat!

Organicopa made all this yummy food. Serve it up family style with the Gigi Gold Rim Platter. Add figs and pomegranates to give the platter some color.

Run on out to Pottery Barn and create this festive look for your family and friends!

Cheers to a Merry Christmas!

Creating the perfect happy hour with Williams Sonoma

Christmas is literally around the corner. Bring on all the holiday get-togethers with family and friends! Is it just me or is every weekend in December filled to the brim with festive functions? Can’t complain whatsoever, but it sure does make December blow by. Being a party planner myself, you could guess I love any excuse and any holiday to throw a little get together. Yes, I do! And Christmas, well that is just the biggest event of the whole year! With the hustle of the time of the year, I like to go a little low key and throw a wine and cheese gathering for close pals. There are four essential components to throwing the perfect cheese + wine gathering. With the help from some of our favorite friends, we are sharing our tips and tricks on how to produce the perfect cheese + wine gathering this holiday season.

Festive Tabletop

Well, you need something to put all the yummy goodies on. We teamed up with our favorite home store, Williams-Sonoma to create this festive tabletop. We placed our charcuterie yummies on the Marble + Wood Cheese boards. I just love the combination of the natural wood mixed with the white marble to create an elegant, low-key vibe to the table. I like to mix natural elements with a touch of elegance for the holidays. These vintage etched tumblers were the perfect pop of beauty for the party. When you add wine to these beauties, the etched flowers just pop! So pretty!  Marble was a key theme throughout this setup, from the cheese boards to the napkin rings and coasters. My favorite bone handled cheese knives were the last touch to this natural tablescape.

Cheese + Wine

Now that you have the perfect setup complete with boards, cheese knives, glassware, napkins, and coasters you will need to create that perfect cheese platter accompanied with wine. Molly from Organicopa lets us in on how she does it! And the best part it’s not hard at all! Who doesn’t love a killer cheese plate? In culinary school, I learned that you need to have a hard cheese, soft cheeses, semi-soft cheeses, and blues. I don’t follow that when making a cheese platter. I go to my local cheesemonger, and my favorite happens to be at whole foods. I asked them what newest and best cheeses are. I prefer unpasteurized soft rind cheeses. Salty, creamy, rich and fatty. I love goat cheeses of all kinds and the more they fall off the rind, the better.

For this cheese board, I stuck with my go-to favs. Truffle Tremor, brillatt (a triple cream Brie cheese. It’s saltier and creamier than regular Brie) and a St Agur blue, which is also- softer and smoother. I love sweet with salty which is why I always serve cheese with local honey. This honey was unique because it came straight from my bee whisperer and had a super molasses undertone. It was a perfect marriage to my cheese delights. I also love briny olives and candied spiced nuts to serve with cheese for layered texture and flavor.

Don’t worry about doing this proper. Do what makes your mouth water. Choose cheeses that you enjoy. Not just the ones you were “told” make the perfect board. It’s all based on flavor profiles and preference. I just happen to love soft ripe, stinky cheese- but you may like super salty dry aged cheddar. Go with what you enjoy and most importantly, enjoy it with a glass of wine.
Now for the wine pairing! We went to the experts, One Hope Wine to help us with the pairing.

Truffle Tremor and ONEHOPE’s Reserve Pinot Noir are a match made in heaven.  The truffles in this creamy cheese demand a red wine, but its buttery, brie-like consistency call for something light.  A Pinot Noir is the perfect balance of both, and the oak notes on this Pinot will pair wonderfully with the light truffle notes in this cheese.

Pair the brillatt with Sparkling Brut. This rich, creamy and silky smooth cheese is balanced out by the hint of sweetness and bubbles in this sparkling wine.
Pair this delicious blue with ONEHOPE’s Reserve Cabernet.  The bold fruit and spice profile of this wine stands up to the earthiness of a mild blue, giving your palette the perfect balance of dark fruit and slightly salty, savory cheese.

Flowers

No gathering can be without a stunning flower arrangement.

Go big or go home I say! Jennifer from Busy Bees Florals did just that! She went for natural darker tones to flow with the marble and wood tones. She used a mix of succulent, kale, cappuccino rose, spray roses, chocolate Queen Anne’s lace, ranunculus, greenery-blue acacia, and eucalyptus. I’m so in love with the Cappuccino roses! No one says you have to have red, white, and green for a Christmas gathering. Be different, and have fun with it!

Lastly, glitter some holiday fun into the mix. We went with a classic black invite for this get-together. What more do you need to read then let’s get tipsy and toasty? I’m there! Meghann Miniello created some fun holiday sayings that we set amid the cheese platters. Lastly, she designed personalized ornaments for each place setting and a fun favor to take home.

Tips and tricks

Have a good time!

Plan your menu ahead of time

The morning of or night before set out your tablescape, so you just have to lay out the food and drinks right before guests arrive.

Don’t be a Scrooge! If you’re stressed, have a glass of wine and turn up that Christmas playlist.

Now, I don’t know anyone that doesn’t like wine or champagne, but always good to have some soft drinks, beer, and of course water on hand.

Thank you to all the wonderful vendors!
