Beijos Palm Springs Style

Going along with our Palm Springs Girls Day Out week and the hottest giveaway ever (If you haven’t entered yet..you should now!! Click here), we thought we would share our style with you and where we got our outfits from.  First of all Palm Springs has to be one of our most favorite spots to visit here in sunny California.  When researching where to go, what to do and what to wear, it’s kind of a big deal and a lot of planning goes into it. We want to be at the best places, do the most exciting things and wear the best pieces while exploring this magical little town.  This special girls day out we went with one of our favorite brands…Show Me Your Mumu.  They are easy breezy fun, flirty and the prints are amazeballs!!  No doubt every time we wear a piece we are complimented and we feel like a million bucks!

Let’s start with our ultra cool sunnies we used all weekend by Raen Optics.   Abby, chose the Fairback in Ivory smoke, they scream vintage, but modern too(Click on the pic to buy them)! meganwelker-palmsprings-195

Jacquelyn picked the amazing Norie Sunnies in Petal Green gradient lens.  These babies are so fun for Spring/Summer…that lens tho…(Click on the picture to purchase these guys). meganwelker-palmsprings-199

And my pick are the Volant sunnies in Red Crystal with smoke lens. Classic shape with a fun sunny color (Click on the pic to buy).

And we cannot forget about this amazing Cleobella clutch!! It’s called the Greenwich (click on the picture to purchase the ivory one) and it’s kind of a necessity!!

You can shop them all here!!  But hurry, these are a limited collection and will sell out fast!!

Spotlight: Stephanie Karen Jewels

Along with our passion for everything pretty comes a great love for jewels…like every girl right?  This line in particular we are currently in love with.  Stephanie Karen Jewels is delicate, modern, incorporates precious stones (always a plus) is bold and edgy, yet timeless.  What’s not to love??  We took a look at all her styles and found these to be our faves.

This Eva Rome Ring was Leah’s fave, with its black diamond and pave diamonds.  We have something to share about this gem later… it may have something to do with a giveaway!!!

Jacquelyn went for this beauty, the Onyx Diamond Claw ring.

And Abby loved the pretty White Diamond Claw Cuff ring.

All of these can be customized in your favorite color gold on the site as well.

Another great concept about her rings is that they are so easily stackable!  We love to play around with different styles and mix/match like we did here.

We recently chatted with Stephanie about her amazing bauble line and here’s what she had to say..

When did Stephanie Karen Jewels begin and how did it come to life?

The idea for Stephanie Karen Jewels started in early 2014 when I was on rotations for pharmacy school and would sketch ideas I had for designs during my breaks as a way to express my creative side since most of my days involved clinical work. By mid-summer 2014, the first SKJ collection was designed and made. From there, it took another six months or so to finalize the company and officially launch in January 2015. During that period, I was juggling the demands of my pharmacy program and learning the ins and outs of the design and jewelry business. It was a hectic period, but the experience I gained during that time was invaluable and wouldn’t trade it for anything.

How did you get involved/interested in the jewelry business?

My family has been in the jewelry business for over 30 years and it all started with the hope of helping the family business attract a younger customer. I started to play around with the idea of designing pieces that are fun and practical for everyday wear, yet exude elegance for special events. The initial response I received along with the design process sparked an unexpected passion.

Where do you find inspiration for your designs?

I try to be inspired everyday, from as many sources as possible, it can be a pattern on a wall or floor to stone colors or shapes. I am particularly drawn to geometrical shapes and like to off set the structured silhouettes with contrasting colors and soft lines from the gold to find a balance between contemporary and elegance.

What makes Stephanie Karen Jewelry stand out from other brands?

Our commitment to detail at every stage – from design to packaging. The goals of our designs are to be versatile so that it can complement any woman’s personal style without compromising their individual personalities. We endeavor to finely balance different elements of chic feminine edge in each piece so that our clients have the freedom to mix and match.

Do you have a favorite piece in your collection, if so, which one and why?

This is a tough one but if I had to choose one, it would have to be the Eva Rome design, whether it’s the earrings, necklace or ring(s). It’s a strong and delicate design and I feel like it embodies the brand in so many different ways.

What’s next for Stephanie Karen Jewels?

Currently working on the next collection and cannot wait to share them!

Remember when I said we had something special for you guys?  Well we are hosting a giveaway with Stephanie Karen starting today that will end this Sunday on our Instagram!  Make sure you follow us and Stephanie Karen Jewels and tell us why you need the amazing Eva Rome Ring…..

Spotlight: Paperless Post

There are many places to shop for paper goods out there, and believe me it’s one of our favorite things to do; being one of the biggest and best parts of the event planning process, because it’s completley setting the tone for your shindig!  We love finding unique stationary with good quality, creative ideas and textures.  One of our favorites is Paperless Post.  They have stationary for every event under the sun from wedding to birthday party’s to just plainly announcing you moved.  They have embrased the era of the evite with providing designer cards via the internet.  But if you still prefer the old fashioned snail mail they also have most of their amazing selection on paper as well.

Recently I needed to design a birth announcement for my newest babe Isla Jean.  I went through most of the popular places to shop for paper on line, but I always seem to go with Paperless Post.  Their designs are fresh, and classic, but yet fun and trendy.  For her announcement I wanted to choose one amazing picture for the front.  I found this one that shaped it into a heart and I knew this was going to be the front runner.

meganwelker-announcement-2

I went with the vibe of the photo, fresh, clean, simple and girly of course! I’m in love with the quality that Paperless post prides themselves in.  Their default paper is thick and impressive!  You even have the option to go thicker, which I always do to add that extra detail of customization.

Speaking of details, I love the variety of details they offer when I comes to font and envelope liners.  The possiblity is endless and fun to completely customize their designs and make it our own.  I fell in love with this modern font we used for Isla’s announcent.  To me it went with the minimal palate of the announcement.

meganwelker-announcement-4

The envolope liner is where I popped my color and had some fun!

meganwelker-announcement-6

Another great concept I love about paperless post is that through the design process these ideas become your own and each and every card produced is unique to your style and vibe.

In the past I’ve done my daughters birthday party invite below.  Which I was completley in love with.

And also our families Christmas Card.

We’ve been working with Paperless Post for a while now and here is what they are all about…

Paperless Post is reimagining invitations through design and technology. Our distinctive, customizable designs can be sent online, on fine cotton paper with engraving or letterpress, on flat-printed cardstock, or with the free Paperless Post app for iOS. The sophisticated online tracking tools we offer bring the efficiency and accessibility of the web to users who value the tradition of correspondence. To date, Paperless Post users have sentover 100 million cards.

And here’s a bit about their wonderful founders…
Siblings Alexa and James Hirschfeld launched Paperless Post in 2009 to prove that communication could be personal and well-designed regardless of the medium.  Since then, we’ve established new standards for modern correspondence, allowing users to communicate expressively on platforms that have otherwise favored efficiency over design.  In 2013, Paperless Post introduced the first collection of hybrid online-offline stationary.  International expansion-beggining in the UK-in 2015. Alexa currently oversees Paperless Posts product develpment, and James as the CEO, oversees the design company’s creative vision.
Another amazing part about this company is that they partner with leading fashion and lifestyle designers, stationers, and influencers that have a strong voice and unique perspective including the amazing Kelly Wearstler, Jonathan Adler, JCrew, Marimekko, Sugar Paper, Kate Spade, and many more talents!  Their most recent amazing collab is with hand painted stationer… the beloved Rifle Paper Co. which you can see all that amazingness here.
Since one of the biggest paper times of year is approaching us, Paperless Post is offering a disount to our Beijos readers of 15% off using code BEIJOS at checkout.  Hurry…go and get your holiday cards done…their selection is pretty marvelous!  Code is good through 1/15/16.
Enjoy!!

Shop: Mandarinas de Tela + Beijos Events Collaboration

Us Beijos Ladies are happy to announce our latest collaboration with the talented and kind Isabel Guzman of Mandarinas de Tela!!

We are huge fans of her talent and have even purchased a few of her dolls for our littles.  Her dolls are all hand made and hand painted, and as she says on her Etsy profile “each one is created with dedication and love”.

Working with Isabel we see the true and genuine person she is, living in Santiago, Chile and creating true works of art!  She describes her dolls as “representing that childish soul we all carry within through an object” which we loved… When we started working on this collaboration we were inspired by our own childhoods and who we looked up to in the 80’s and still cherish and love and who we would want to share with our own children! Our dolls are below and we are so excited with how they turned out!!!  The dolls run $80.50 + shipping, take 2 weeks to make and take 2-3 weeks to ship to the US, faster shipping is available for a higher fee.  We are excited to hear what you think!!!  You can also get all 3 of these 80’s dolls together for a special price here!!!

The Madonna Doll

This one was chosen by our own Leah Carriger, and here is why in her words…

She is the undisputed queen of pop!! Like a virgin was the first cassette I made my mom buy me, still love it and always will.  I love anything she does now. She’s always friends with the coolest famous people. Hehe!  All female pop stars copy her and when you wanna dance she is one of the best artists to dance to!

The Prince Doll

Prince was chosen by yours truly, Jacquelyn Kazas… Here’s why I love the purple one…

My love affair with Prince started at a young age when I would sit on my Auntie Mary’s lap and “drive” her BMW and listen to Raspberry Beret, it was my jam… Fast forward to dating my husband through the majority of my 20’s and finding out we both shared this love!!  We would make annual trips to Vegas to see “Purple Reign”, a Prince cover band.  When he toured a few years ago we knew we HAD to see him, so we went with my sister and friends, and bought nose bleed seats.  Miraculously a guy came up to us and asked if we wanted to sit in the pit by the stage, we of course said YES!!!  It was the BEST night ever, and the last song played at our wedding was of course… Purple Rain.

The Michael Jackson Doll

Our little Abby Guido has always been a huge MJ fan and for he, he was a MUST!!  She often sports her Michael Jackson t-shirt ;) I mean, seriously, who doesn’t love Michael!?

DSC_7321 DSC_7302 DSC_7310

And last but not least… Our own original creation with Isabel inspired by your’s truly… The Beijos Doll!
She’s bohemian and a free spirit with flowers in her hair and moccasins on her feet… Get yours to look like your own little lady with any color hair!

The Beijos Girl
