Chicas de Mayo

Every year we style a Cinco de Mayo tablescape, and this year we did it again!  What can we say, it’s a holiday and we can’t help ourselves.  This week we’ve gone over style and food, now we have to add in the table of course!  The Otomi print was the main inspiration along with the perfect girl’s day out, what I like to call Chicas de Mayo!

Lucky me got to shoot at the incredible Puesto in downtown San Diego, such a fun spot for Cinco de Mayo.  It’s the perfect spot to meet up with your girlfriends for some margaritas and delicious food!  Any chance I have to get out with my girlfriends, I jump at it!  It’s not often that we can all get our busy schedules together, it’s like finding a unicorn to make it work, but when we do it’s always amazing.  So for this shoot I knew I had to make it all about girlfriends and having fun with them for such a fun holiday.

Speaking of girlfriends, my friend Julia from San Diego Songbird and Gunn & Swain helped me plan this fun shoot and styled the wardrobe for our models.  Always fun collaborating with that babe!  Back to the Otomi…. I love that print and have been a fan of it since Leah’s wedding.  She got married in Cabo and had that print on her tables, so I will forever associate it with Mexico and how fun it is!

Let’s get started with the amazing photos by Amy Lynn Photography

Call me old fashioned, but I like to start these posts out with the invite.  This one is beyond gorgeous and I’m in love with all the color!  Taryn of Twinkle & Toast is one of the prettiest hand calligraphers I know, she designed this one.  It’s styled with the cutest Otomi cocktail stirrers and acrylic place cards by The Roc Shop, which you’ll see through-out the shoot.  These girls work so well together and everything they touch is magic!

There are so many things about this table that I love… The flowers by Wallflower Inspiration are beyond gorgeous, she had just the right amount of Mexican flair mixed with bohemian goodness.  The pops of color, the limes and those peonies are beyond amazing.  She even added little pots of succulents and brought some fun straw flowers for me to use, which I am now obsessed with!

Don’t you just love the way the Otomi is carried on with the place cards and the menu?  I’m so in love with them and would be so so happy to have a margarita at this place setting!!

Whenever I get ready for any gathering there are two online shops that I look to…  One is Gunn & Swain who has my favorite blankets and home goods.  I used their amazing Cocoa Beach blanket as a runner to anchor the table and their serape pillows.  I also love The Little Market, their amazing creamics, glassware and baskets are also a must have in my home.  They are great for entertaining and although they are printed, you can really make them work for any occasion!  We have used The Little Market for every Cinco de Mayo table we’ve designed and styled.  It’s really easy to see why when you see these images.

Again, these flowers!!!  Swoon….

Now let’s get this party started and get our lady friends involved!!  I love having shoots with people in them, especially FUN people like these gals!  Our beautiful models for this shoot were Bianca of Bink & Boo and Sunny & Cheer, Sam of Little Petunia Consulting, Merrill of The Melideos and Esther of Wallflower Inspiration (our lovely florist).

Julia of Song Bird San Diego styled the ladies in vintage dresses by Sunny & Cheer and the pink fiesta dress by Gunn & Swain.  All of the gorgeous jewelry is by Hand Meets Sky, are you as in love with that turquoise as I am?!  And the lovely Emily Holliday did the hair and makeup, making the ladies even prettier.

I don’t know what I want more… The turquoise ring or the margarita!

How bout’ these cuties at the bar?!  Heeeeeeyyyyy….

You know who is always invited to our events and shoots?!  The little chicas… And Miss Perry is the ultimate cutie!

Here’s some of her and her Mama…

Now, like I said, I’m traditional so I like to end with dessert… I basically like to end every day with dessert so may as well end this post!  Hey There Cupcake is one of the best in desserts, they have so much creativity and everything tastes really amazing.  I told them about my Otomi print inspiration and what they did really blew me away.  I mean, look at this spread!!

The cake is beyond amazing, and I love the flowers that were added!

How cute are these little llama cookies?!  I mean the fringe…  I think they’re my favorite cookie I’ve ever seen!

It’s just so good!!!

Now, you know these babes had to enjoy those sweet treats!!

Especially little Perry, seriously love this cutie!!

Enjoy the rest of your week!!

Viva la Chicas de Mayo!!!

A Rehearsal Dinner Inspired Table at Brick & Laurel

I recently teamed up with a really amazing group of vendors to create a rehearsal dinner inspired table.  It’s so often that so much focus is placed on the actual wedding that the rehearsal dinner becomes an afterthought.  From my own experience, the rehearsal dinner was one of the best parts of my wedding weekend.  It was intimate with the ones I love and more low key, but still a great party.

One of the main problems with the rehearsal dinner is finding the right place to host it.  Restaurants can seem like a good idea but the feel of them is often cheesy or not the style we desire.  That’s one of the many reasons I fell in love with Brick & Laurel, an amazing rental space in San Diego.  It is the perfect size for a small party and has the best vibe of brick industrial walls that are just asking to be prettied up!  I think it’s the perfect space to host a rehearsal dinner or even a birthday party or shower!!

Lucky for me Sarah, owner of Catalina Neal, also owns Brick and Laurel, so I was able to utilizee her amazing floral skills as well.  She even offers that as part of a package when renting out the space, genius right?!  Our vision was a pretty Winter to Spring tablescape that was as welcoming as it was sophisticated.  The feel is light and airy with some coziness oozing off of the brick walls.  I added in a few of our other favorite vendors and the party was complete!

Keep scrolling to see more of these beautiful images the Dulcet Creative ladies took of our rehearsal dinner inspired table.  You can also see it on The Fashionable Hostess Blog today as well!

First let’s show off what the lovely Taryn from Twinkle & Toast created for us…  Even though the wedding is the main event, that doesn’t mean the rehearsal dinner doesn’t deserve it’s time to shine!  She deserves a pretty invite too, and this one is just so good with all that combo of amazing colors!

That gorgeous combination of dark and light colors was the ideal contrast for our Winter to Spring inspiration.  I carried it over to the beautiful table.  It’s elegant but warm and inviting at once.  The perfect place to celebrate something so important but still having that relaxed vibe letting the actual wedding shine.

I especially love the softness of the vintage lace tablecloth compared to the industrial metal chairs and brick walls.  And can we take a second to talk about that greenery install Catalina Neal created?!  It really makes it feel like Spring is in the air!

The gold wire chairs are from Pow Wow Design Studio, can I have those in my home please?!

All of the gorgeous tabletop items are from my girl Farra at Hostess Haven.  She is always adding pretty pieces to her collection, and these new grey ceramic plates are brand spanking new!  Aren’t they the prettiest shade?!  They would make just about any table and color scheme look amazing!  And those pretty place cards are done by the talented Twinkle & Toast again!

Last but not least, I always love having One Hope Wine at any event I host and a rehearsal dinner would be no exception!  Their wines are so yummy and also give back to multiple charities which I of course love!

So much pretty in one place right?!  I love how this rehearsal dinner inspired table came to life.  Proof that the rehearsal dinner can be just as thought-out and gorgeous as the wedding, well almost ;)

Girly Galentine Playdate

You know we couldn’t let a holiday go by without throwing a par-tayyyyyyy!!!  Valentine’s Day deserves lots of love and that’s what this girly Galentine playdate is about!  I gathered up the ultimate girl squad for this shoot and the cuteness enthused.  The best part was that all of these girls had the best time together and it was so fun watching them play!

The adorable clothing line Stella Phoenix is what inspired me to throw this little party.  I saw an image of their amazing collection and knew it would be the perfect attire for Valentine’s Day.  The pieces were even cuter in person, I swear!!  Being a mom to two boys this was my chance to go all out girly and I loved every second of it!

This party is also featured on 100LayerCakelet today!

All photos are by Dulcet Creative

Now are you ready for the ultimate girliest playdate you’ve ever seen??  Because I don’t know if you can handle the cuteness…  Let’s start with the amazing balloon install from Wild Child Party complimented by the beautiful flowers by Of the Flowers and the gorgeous rentals from 6th and Detroit…  Giving me all the Valentine’s feels…

Meghann Miniello created the sweetest invite that would make any heart flutter… I carried on the cute acrylic heart theme to the table as well.  Playing with all of this pink was way too fun!!  We threw floral confetti by The Confetti Bar around and the girls had the best time doing it!

The table had a mix of wooden plates from The Little Market, amazing paper tabletop goods from Wild Child Party, and the pop of acrylic pieces from Meghann Miniello.

I layered bright pink Gunn & Swain blankets and pillows with some white mud cloth Boho Pillows

Now for the cutest girl squad you have ever seen… I seriously want to be them when I grow up!  These girls have more sass and more confidence than most adults I know!  We could all learn from their girl power!

Iris & Zooey

Perry & Edie

Rylie & Lucca

And of course this cutie, Avalon

I think I was just more in awe of how adorable these girls were and how much fun they had together.  Aren’t our girl friendships the best?!  And you can see how evident that is at even this young age!  Makes me so grateful to be a girl and get to share this love with my fellow ladies!!

Cute XOXO balloons from North Star Balloons

Like we said, Stella Phoenix is what really inspired the shoot with their adorable collection, but our buddies at Little Style Collective styled the girls up right!  They threw in some fun sunnies, jewelry, bags and shoes that completed each little gal’s get up.  We also had fun with some ban.do tumblers, party straws and sunnies too!

There’s that amazing acrylic magic from Meghann Miniello – All the Heart Eyes!!

The girls got spoiled with the sweetest cookies from Parchment.  We love everything she creates because she puts so much detail into each delicious cookie!

All I know is these girls were made to party… They had so much fun sitting around acting like grown ups, whilst stuffing their faces, haha!  My kind of girls!!!

So we loved this peacock chair from 6th and Detroit so much, along with the insanely gorgeous floral garland Of the Flowers added to it we dubbed it the Princess Chair!  Each girl got to sit in the chair and do their own Princess pose… I can’t make this stuff up people… Please god, let me talk my husband into having a girl!!!  I was the biggest tomboy ever growing up but I love seeing this stuff!!

Avalon marches to the beat of her own drum!  And since she was the littlest at the shoot, she wanted the littlest chair… And trust me, you don’t want to argue with this one!

Here’s just a bunch more photos because, well, the cuteness…  The adorable princess star wands are a new addition to Gunn & Swain’s site and they’re only $10 a pop!  Trust me, big hit!!

And that’s a wrap!  I’ll seriously be dreaming about living in this pink girly wonderland the rest of the day!

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!!!

A Tropical New Years Eve with Lulu & Georgia

One of the most anticipated holidays of the year is upon us…  Just two more days till New Years Eve!!!  This is THE holiday for getting the party started, and I did just that!  Usually when you think of New Years Eve you think of the typical black, gold, silver, white color scheme.  Well, I wanted to try something different this year, and since the tropical trend has been such a continuous favorite, that is right where my mind went.  So this year we decided on a tropical New Years Eve with Lulu & Georgia, and it turned out pretty amazing!

If you missed our New Year Brunch with Lulu & Georgia earlier this week be sure to check it out!  This tropical affair is all about fun colors and the essentials for the perfect celebration.  Keep scrolling to see the gorgeous photos from Heather Kincaid and be sure to head over to Style Me Pretty Living for even more fun!

I always have to start with a gorgeous invite, and who else but my girl Taryn from Twinkle & Toast.  Palm leaves and pink, sort of the perfect combination, am I right?!  She created all of the paper goods for this shoot.  And you’ll see that amazing custom confetti from The Confetti Bar and cutest cocktail stirrers from The Roc Shop through-out this shoot!

Everything used for this shoot from the furniture to the tabletop is from Lulu & Georgia!  So you can literally recreate this yourself!  These tropical palm leaf plates were the perfect addition to the table and really make it pop!  And I fell in love with the super tropical floral arrangement from the Bloom Babes!

It’s New Years Eve so you’ve gotta throw some confetti around!!

One of the most important spots on New Years Eve has gotta be the bar cart!!  The Zelia Bar Cart from Lulu & Georgia is so classic and modern, it will fit perfectly in any home!  Just add some pretty glassware and our favorite sparkly One Hope Champagne bottles!

Let’s Get Bubbly!!!

Our gorgeous models all wearing the cutest outfits from Show Me Your Mumu and hair and makeup by Fiore Beauty.  These cuties are from left to right… Jen Hawkins, Hannah Lord, Janel Benson, Abby Sterling and Hannah Hagler.

New Years Brunch with Lulu & Georgia

Now that Christmas is officially over there’s only one way to deal with our heartache…. Start making New Years plans!!!!  That’s right, 2017 is coming up and we’ve got you covered this week with tons of inspiration!!  Starting with this amazing New Years Brunch with Lulu & Georgia.  I was lucky enough to style and design the first birthday party of Vivian Mae, the daughter of Lulu & Georgia CEO Sara Brenner earlier this year.  I loved working with Sara so much I had to reach out to see if she would be up for some fun styled shoots.  Lucky for me, she was!

The idea of a New Years Brunch with my girlfriends just makes me smile!  After a night out of debauchery, spending the day lounging with your gal pals drinking mimosas sounds like heaven!  I had the best team of vendors on this one and I’m thrilled to have it featured on Glitter Guide today!  Keep scrolling to see all of the pretty details and get inspired to host a fab New Years brunch of your own!!  You’re gonna flip over all of the amazing Lulu & Georgia goodies!!

Photos by the talented Heather Kincaid

What pieces and details brought this party to life?

I have been a huge fan of the Elodie collection from Lulu & Georgia and Glitter Guide since the minute I saw it.  I love the mix of colors and print and thought it would be the perfect inspiration for this gathering at home!  I mean, who wouldn’t love to have that rug in their home?!  All of the vendors involved had so much fun creating pieces inspired by the Elodie, I especially love the invite Twinkle & Toast created that used the print and colors perfectly!

We love the concept of a New Year’s Day brunch! What inspired this type of holiday celebration?

I love it too!  NYE is always an amazing celebration but I like to keep the party going and love the idea of having a girls slumber party with fun festivities to continue the next morning!  Plus, we all could use a little hair of the dog the day after such a fun filled cocktail infused night out :)  And lastly, you want to start the new year off right with close friends and fun times, so this is just how you do that!

How gorgeous are the flowers by Bloom Babes?!  They go with the whole color scheme so well and they are exactly what you want to see to kick off a new year!

Tell us about the menu!

I love brunch foods, to me that’s the best meal of the day!  So for the menu I had to have something delicious but pretty as well!  There is an array of sweet and salty, which is also important to appease everyone’s taste buds.  Plus, some good hang over options for the ladies who had a little too much fun the night before

Custom menus, resolution cards, and really rad copper place cards by Twinkle & Toast.  Also, loving the custom cocktail stirrers from The Roc Shop!

What are three things every holiday party has to have?

Good food, yummy cocktails and festive friends!

How did you settle on that pretty pink color palette for the party?

I wanted something different for this NY celebration.  New Years tends to be all about black, gold and white but I wanted something different!  I love the idea of having a girls get together with these pretty hues and that soft pink really stole my heart!  The pretty pink Lulu & Georgia settee played off the colors of the Elodie rug so well and I just love the way it all turned out!

Now let’s get our models in here, who really know how to party!!  Especially when some One Hope champs is involved!  Bottoms up!

Best brunch playlist: go!

I’m really feeling the new Bruno Mars album and gotta have some Bieber!!

All of our models are keeping cozy in Show Me Your Mumu and looking pretty thanks to Fiore Beauty, and genetics of course ;)

Do you have any stress-free party-planning tips to share?

Do as much as you can the day before… Pre prep food, set up your home for everything you can, all of that tedious stuff.  The less you have to do the day of the more you can enjoy yourself and have fun!  Which is what planning and throwing an event is all about.

What are your New Year resolution for 2017?

Something I want to focus on is more time on myself, whether it’s working out, resting, reading more books.  Just finding time for me and taking care of myself!

Hope you enjoyed this New Years Brunch with Lulu & Georgia as much as we did!!  Now go out and plan that brunch and make it a dreamy affair like this one!
